Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti’nde Macera Turizmi Potansiyelinin SWOT Analizi ile Değerlendirilmesi

Abstract

The tourism industry is developing rapidly around the world. As a result of the ever-changing tourism demands, new forms of tourism have started to emerge, and accordingly, countries have started to develop different strategies for a strong competition. The necessity of determining the advantages and disadvantages of regions stands out on the basis of developing these strategies correctly. It is seen that many destinations frequently prefer SWOT analysis in order to determine their potential for tourism types. There has been an increase in the studies on adventure tourism, which has emerged as a special interest tourism in recent years, and examples of using SWOT analysis are also encountered. In this study, it is aimed to determine the adventure activities and fields of activity carried out in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, as well as to identify the strengths, weaknesses, threats and opportunities of the island in this respect, thus revealing the potential. In this context; “What are the activities that make up the adventure tourism potential on the island? At which points of the island are adventure activities carried out? The answers to research questions such as "What are the strengths, weaknesses and possible threats and potential opportunities of the island?" This study has been prepared with a qualitative approach. In the study, a total of 14 people were reached with the snowball sampling. Face-to-face interviews were held with various institutions and professionals related to the adventure activities. During these interviews, the opinions of the individuals on the subject were taken with semi-structured questions, and a descriptive analysis was made on the provided data and a SWOT matrix was created. At the same time, an adventure activities map was created with the guidance of the relevant people in order to visualize the diversity of activities and points of activity. As a result of the analysis, it was concluded that the island has a potential in terms of adventure tourism. Various suggestions have been presented to activate this potential. The absence of a study to determine the potential of adventure tourism in the TRNC shows that the study will contribute to the gap in the field. ÖZ: Dünya genelinde turizm sektörü hızla gelişmektedir. Gün geçtikçe değişmekte olan turizm talepleri neticesinde yeni turizm şekilleri oluşmaya başlamış, buna bağlı olarak ülkeler güçlü bir rekabet adına farklı stratejiler geliştirmeye başlamışlardır. Bu stratejileri doğru bir biçimde geliştirmenin temelinde bölgelerin sahip olduğu avantaj ve dezavantajları belirlemesi gerekliliği öne çıkmaktadır. Pek çok destinasyonun turizm türlerine yönelik potansiyellerini belirleyebilmesi adına SWOT analizini sıklıkla tercih ettiği görülmektedir. Son yıllarda bir özel ilgi turizmi olarak ortaya çıkan macera turizmine yönelik çalışmalarda bir artış yaşanmakta olup SWOT analizinin kullanıldığı örneklere de rastlanmaktadır. Bu çalışmada Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti’nde gerçekleştirilen macera faaliyetlerini ve faaliyet alanlarını tespit etmek, aynı zamanda adanın bu açıdan güçlü, zayıf yönleri tehdit ve fırsatlarının belirlenmesi böylelikle potansiyelin ortaya çıkarılması amaçlanmıştır. Bu çerçevede; “Adada macera turizmi potansiyelini oluşturan faaliyetler nelerdir? Macera faaliyetleri adanın hangi noktalarında gerçekleştirilmektedir? Macera turizmine yönelik olarak adanın sahip olduğu güçlü, zayıf yönleri ve olası tehdit ve potansiyel fırsatları nelerdir?’’ gibi araştırma sorularının yanıtları aranmıştır. Bu çalışma nitel bir yaklaşımla hazırlanmıştır. Çalışmada kartopu örneklemi ile toplamda 14 kişiye ulaşılmıştır. Macera faaliyetleri ile ilgili çeşitli kurum ve profesyonel kişiler ile yüz yüze görüşmeler yapılmıştır. Bu görüşmeler esnasında kişilerin yarı yapılandırılmış sorular ile konuyla ilgili görüşleri alınmış olup, sağlanan veriler üzerinde betimsel bir analiz yapılarak SWOT matrisi oluşturulmuştur. Aynı zamanda faaliyet çeşitliliğini ve faaliyet noktalarını görselleştirmek amacıyla ilgili kişilerin yönlendirmesi ile macera faaliyetleri haritası oluşturulmuştur. Yapılan analiz neticesinde adanın macera turizmi açısından bir potansiyelinin olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır. Bu potansiyelin aktif hale getirilebilmesi için çeşitli öneriler sunulmuştur. KKTC’nde macera turizminin potansiyelini belirleyecek bir çalışmanın bulunmaması çalışmanın alandaki boşluğa katkı koyacağını göstermektedir. Ek olarak çalışma KKTC’nin sahip olduğu bu potansiyeli değerlendirmesi açısından yardımcı bir kaynak olacaktır. Anahtar kelimeler: Kuzey Kıbrıs, Macera Turizmi, SWOT Analizi
