Üniversite Öğrencilerinin Algıladıkları Helikopter Ebeveyn Düzeyleri, Bağımlı Kişilik ve Kendine Saygı Düzeyi Faktörleri Aralarındaki İlişkinin İncelenmesi

Abstract

ÖZ: Bu çalışmada, üniversite öğrencilerinin algılarına göre helikopter ebeveyn düzeyleriyle, bağımlı kişilik ve kendine saygı düzeyleri arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemek amaçlanmıştır. Bu çalışma kapsamında evren Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyetin’de bir devlet üniversitesi konumunda olan Doğu Akdeniz Üniversitesi’nde bulunan fakültelerin 1. ve 2. sınıflarında eğitime devam eden üniversite öğrencileri oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın örneklemini ise Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti’nde yer alan Doğu Akdeniz Üniversitesi’nde eğitim dili Türkçe olan bölüm/programların 1. ve 2. sınıflarda eğitimine devam eden 280 öğrenci oluşmaktadır. Çalışmanın amacı doğrultusunda ilgili literatür detaylı bir şekilde incelenmiş ve üniversite öğrencilerinin algılarına göre helikopter ebeveyn düzeyinin tespit edilebilmesi için Ertuna (2016) tarafından geliştirilen “Helikopter Ebeveyn Tutumu Ölçeği”, bağımlı kişilik düzeylerinin tespit edilebilmesi için Ulusoy (2010) tarafından geliştirilen “Kişilerarası Bağımlılık Ölçeği” ve kendine saygı düzeylerinin tespit edilebilmesi için uyarlaması Bogenç (1994) tarafından yapılmış “Kendine Saygı Ölçeği” kullanılmıştır. Öğrencilere ayrıca cinsiyet, yaş, sınıf düzeyi, kardeş sayısı, anne baba durumu, anne baba eğitim durumu, anne baba mesleği ve hanenin aylık gelirini belirtilecekleri “Kişisel Bilgi Formu” dağıtılmıştır. Çalışma kapsamında elde edilmiş veriler SPSS 25.0 programı ile analiz edilmiştir. Elde edilen bulgu sonuçlarına göre öğrencilerin algıladıkları Helikopter Ebeveyn Tutumu puanları ile “Kişiler Arası Bağımlılık Ölçeği” duygusal güven alt boyutu puanları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı, pozitif yönlü ve düşük kuvvetli bir ilişki tespit edilmiştir. Buna göre üniversite öğrencilerinin “Helikopter Ebeveyn Tutumu Ölçeğinden” aldıkları puanlar arttıkça, “Kişiler Arası Bağımlılık Ölçeği” duygusal güven alt boyutundan aldıkları puanların da arttığı görülmektedir. Ayrıca öğrencilerin “Kendine Saygı Ölçeğinden” aldıkları puanlar ile “Kişiler Arası Bağımlılık Ölçeği” otonomi alt boyutu puanları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı, pozitif yönlü ve orta düzeyde bir ilişki olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Buna göre öğrencilerin “Kendine Saygı Ölçeğinden” aldıkları puanlar arttıkça, “Kişiler Arası Bağımlılık Ölçeği” otonomi alt boyutu aldıkları puanların da arttığı görülmektedir.

This present study was aims to examine the relationship between helicopter parent levels, dependent personality, and self-esteem levels according to the perceptions of university students. Within the scope of this present study, the universe consists of university students who continue their education in the 1st and 2nd year of the faculties of the Eastern Mediterranean University, which is a state university in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. The sample of the study consists of 280 students who continue their education in the 1st and 2nd grades (education language of students is Turkish) at the Eastern Mediterranean University located in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. In line with the purpose of the present study, the relevant literature was examined within detail and the “Helicopter Parental Attitude Scale” was used (the scale developed by Ulusoy (2010)) to determine the helicopter parent level according to the perceptions of university students (Ertuna, 2016), the “Self-Respect Scale” was also used to determine the level of self-esteem and self-esteem (this scale was adapted by Bogenç (1994)). In addition, a “Personal Information Form” was distributed to the students in which they specify gender, age, grade level, number of siblings, parental status, parental education level, parental occupation, and monthly income of the household. The data obtained within the scope of the research were analyzed with the SPSS 25.0 program. According to the results of the findings, a statistically significant, positive, and low-strength relationship was found between the students' perceived Helicopter Parental Attitude scores and the "Interpersonal Dependence Scale" emotional trust sub-dimension scores. Accordingly, as the students' scores on the "Helicopter Parent Attitude Scale" increase, the scores they get on the "Interpersonal Dependence Scale" emotional trust sub-dimension also increase. In addition, it was determined that there was a statistically significant, positive, and moderate relationship between the scores of the students from the "Self-Esteem Scale" and the scores of the "Interpersonal Dependence Scale" autonomy sub-dimension. Accordingly, as the scores of the students in the "Self-Esteem Scale" increase, it is seen that the scores of the autonomy sub-dimension of the "Interpersonal Dependence Scale" also increase.
