Türkiye’de toplumun bilgi toplumu olma niteliğini daha hızlı kazanabilmesi için
bireylerin etkili öğreniciler olmalarına, bunun için de öğrenmeyi öğrenmelerine
gerek vardır. Bu da ancak ilköğretimden başllayarak bireylere öğrenmeyi öğretmekle
sağlanabilir. Bu nedenle, bugünün ö¤retmeninden beklenen, ö¤rencilere
yalnız dersinin içeriğini öğretmek değil, aynı zamanda dersin nasıl öğrenileceğini
de öğretmektir. Bugün öğrencilerin bütün derslerde öğrenmelerini kolaylaştıracak,
hızlandıracak, kalıcı kılacak, hatta zevkli kılacak stratejiler bulunmaktadır.
Bunlara genel olarak “öğrenme stratejileri” denmektedir. Öğrencilerin okullarda
başarısızlık nedenlerinden birini, öğrencilerin bu stratejileri öğrenip kullanmamaları
oluşturmaktadır. Onun için ilköğretimden başllayarak öğrencilerin nasıl
öğreneceklerini öğrenmelerine, yani öğrenmeyi öğrenmelerine öğretmenlerce yardım edilmesi gereklidir. İşte bu ünitede, öğrenmeyi öğrenmenin kapsamı ile öğrenmenin
öğrencilere nasıl öğretilebileceği üzerinde durulmaktadır.
