dc.description.abstract In a common VoD system, a large bandwidth is required for the distribution of videos over the Internet. One promising solution is to use a “peer to peer” Video on Demand (VoD) system, in which peers cooperate in the distribution of videos. This solution decreases the server traffic; so the system works faster in a peer to peer VoD architecture. Video Locality Based Buffering Mechanism (LCBBS) is using this idea in an efficient methodology to get better performance in peer to peer VoD systems. In this thesis, a modified version of a LCBBS module is implemented and tested over a real test bed VoD application. The details of this implementation and the results of related experiments are also provided. This implementation has two major modules; TCP and UDP. The TCP module is implemented to work as a standalone video server on the Internet to distribute video segments to all clients. The TCP module has a buffer to store video segments on the local machine of each client. The UDP module helps system to distribute video segments over a high speed LAN connection without any interaction with server. en_US
