dc.description.abstract We reformulate the initial data on the characteristic surface for colliding waves in the Einstein- Maxwell theory. This approach takes into account the superposition principle for gravitational and electromagnetic waves. Finding exact solutions for colliding superposed waves happens to be a rather challenging problem. en_US
