In Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), almost all parts of society, especially children, keep up with the developing technology as in many developed and developing countries. This situation leads to inadequate physical activity and leads to raise children, adolescents and adults with poor physical fitness in the society, also increase the risk of various diseases and obesity, which has become a disease of our time. The aim of this study is to evaluate physical fitness, posture and the quality of life of students, who studying in 4th and 5th grade in private and state primary schools in TRNC and make comparison between schools.From the results of power analysis, 300 students from state primary schools and 66 students from private primary schools, in total 366 students involved in to the study. Demographic analysis was performed to students who participated in the study. For physical fitness evaluation ‘Eurofit Test Battery’, for the life quality evaluation ‘Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (PedsQL) ‘ and for the posture evaluation ‘New York Posture Assessment Scale’ used. For the data evaluation Windows software package SPSS-22, from statistical methods; Ki-Kare Test, T-Test for independent groups and Mann-Whitney U Test used.Significance level (p) was considered as statistically significant when calculated less than 0.05. Tolerance (α) is at 5% and confidence interval is at 95 % probability. At the end of the study, flexibilty, hand speed cardiovascular endurance, explosive power, abdominal muscle strength and posture evaluation results in students in private primary schools, better than students in state primary

schools(p<0.05 , respectively p=0.04, p=0.00, p=0.00 and p=0.00). No significant statistical difference determined in life quality and the other parameters. Results of the study shows that physical fitness and development of posture of students in private schools, are better than students in state schools. Öz: Gelişmiş ve gelişmekte olan birçok ülkede olduğu gibi Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk
Cumhuriyeti’nde de (KKTC) başta çocuklar olmak üzere toplumun tüm kesimi
gelişen teknolojiye ayak uydurmuştur. Bu durum beraberinde yetersiz fiziksel
aktivite ve yetersiz fiziksel uygunluğa sahip çocuk, adölesan ve erişkin toplumunun
gelişmesine neden olmaktadır. Ayrıca çağımızın hastalığı haline gelen obezite başta
olmak üzere birçok hastalığa yakalanma riskini artırmaktadır.
Bu çalışmanın amacı; KKTC’de bulunan özel ve devlet ilköğretim
okullarında öğrenim gören 4. ve 5.sınıf öğrencilerin fiziksel uygunluk, yaşam
kalitesi ve postür gelişimlerini değerlendirmek ve okullar arası karşılaştırmaları
yapmaktır. Güç analiz sonucuna göre çalışmaya 300’ü devlet okulundan, 66’sı özel
okuldan olmak üzere 366 ilköğretim öğrencisi dahil edildi.
Çalışmaya dâhil edilen öğrencilerin demografik bilgileri kaydedilip, fiziksel
uygunluklarının değerlendirilmesi için ‘Eurofit Test Bataryası’, yaşam kalitesinin
değerlendirilmesi için ‘Çocuklar İçin Yaşam Kalitesi Ölçeği (ÇİYKÖ)’ ve postürün
değerlendirilmesi için ‘New York Postür Değerlendirme Ölçeği’ kullanıldı. Verilerin
değerlendirilmesinde SPSS-22 windows paket programı, istatistik yöntemlerden Ki-
Kare Test, Bağımsız gruplarda t-testi ve Mann-Whitney U Test kullanıldı. Önem
değeri (p) 0,05’den küçük hesaplandığında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı kabul
edilmiştir. Hata payı (α) % 5 ve güven aralığı % 95 olasılıktadır.
Çalışmanın sonunda; özel okullarda okuyan öğrencilerde esneklik, el hızı,
kardiovasküler dayanıklılık, patlayıcı güç ve postür değerlendirme sonuçları devlet
okulunda okuyan öğrencilerden daha iyi bulundu (p<0,05, sırası ile p=0,04, p=0,00,
p=0,00 ve p=0,00 ). Yaşam kalitesi arasında okullar arası fark bulunmadı.

Çalışmanın sonuçları, özel okullarda okuyan öğrencilerin fiziksel
uygunluğunun ve postür gelişiminin devlet okullarında okuyan öğrencilerden daha
iyi olduğunu göstermektedir.
