The main aim of this research is to evaluate the ways in which pre-school children’s social adaptations and competences change in terms of various variables and at what form and level these differences occur . Within this framework, it has been examined whether the social adaptation and skill of children differ according to various variables. Sample of this research is consist of 274 families which are still continuing pre-school education and live in different regions of TRNC. Data of this research is gathered by social adjustment and competence scale which is improved by Işık and Kandır (2007) and demographic information form prepared by the investigator. Mann-Whitney U test and by Kruskal-Wallis H test is used to analize data obtained by data collection tools used in the research. As a result of the analysis of the data, the children's social skills and adjustment scores differed due to children's school status and number of sibling; parental education level, parent-child age, family income level did not lead to a significant difference in children's social skills scores. The findings were discussed in relation with the literature and suggestions related to the subject were made.
ÖZ: Bu araştırmanın temel amacı, okul öncesi çocuğu olan farklı sosyoekonomik düzeylerde ki ailelerin çocuklarının sosyal uyum becerilerinin çeşitli değişkenler açısından ne yönde ve hangi biçimlerde değiştiğinin değerlendirilmesidir. Bu amaç çerçevesinde çocukların sosyal uyum becerilerinin çeşitli değişkenlere göre farklılaşıp farklılaşmadığı incelenmiştir. Araştırmanın örneklemini KKTC’nin farklı bölgelerinde yaşayan, anaokulu eğitimine devam etmekte olan çocuklar ve 274 aile oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın verileri Işık ve Kandır (2007) tarafından geliştirilen Sosyal Uyum ve Beceri Ölçeği ve Demografik Bilgi Formu yoluyla toplanmıştır. Araştırmadaki kullanılan veri toplama araçları doğrultusunda oluşturulan sonuçlar Mann-Whitney U testi, Kruskal-Wallis H testi ile analiz edilmiştir. Verilerin analizi sonucunda, çocukların sosyal beceri ve uyum puanlarının; çocukların okul durumu ve kardeş sayılarına göre farklılaştığı, anne-baba yaşı, anne-baba eğitim durumu, ailenin gelir düzeyi gibi değişkenlerin ise çocukların sosyal becerileri puanlarında anlamlı bir farklılaşmaya yol açmadığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Elde edilen bulgular alan yazında tartışılarak konuyla ilgili önerilerde bulunulmuştur.
