This research was conducted in accordance with descriptive research design in order to evaluate the physical health status of primary school students. The sample of study consisted of 360 students. Introductory Information Form and Physical Evaluation Form were used as data collection tools in the research. The data were collected from March to May 2018. Frequency analysis and chi-square test were used for statistical evaluation of the data. Of the students 50.8 % were female, 49.2 % were male and 3.1 % had urinary infection, 3.1 % had enuresis and 2.50% had asthma. As a result of physical examination, tooth decay (36.1%), vision problems (4.2% ) (15 students; 6 of them were not previously diagnosed), tachycardia, tachypnea ( 1.9%) were found in the students. It was determined that 8.9% of the students had blood pressure value on the 95th percentile according to age and it was determined that they needed further evaluation for hypertension. As for body weight, of the students while 3.1% had 3 percentile, which are low percentile values; 10.6% had 97 percentile which is a high percentile value. As for height, of the students while 2.5 % is below 3 percentile. 14.2% of female students and 20.9% of male students have a body mass ındex of 95 percentile and over. According to body mass index z scores by age, 6.4% of the students are obese, 7.8% are slightly overweight.
Physical health problems of considerable size have been identified in the students and problems such as tooth decay, vision problem, hypertension and obesity can be diagnosed in the early period and, when the necessary interventions are not performed, they can cause different and complicated physical, emotional and social problems. Therefore, the presence of school nurses in schools may contribute to the

Bu araştırma, ilkokul öğrencilerinin fiziksel sağlık durumlarını değerlendirmek amacıyla tanımlayıcı araştırma tasarımına uygun olarak yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemini 360 öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak Tanıtıcı Bilgi Formu ve Fiziksel Değerlendirme Formu kullanılmıştır. Veriler Mart- Mayıs 2018 tarihleri arasında toplanmıştır. Verilerin istatistiksel değerlendirilmesinde frekans analizi ve ki- kare testi kullanılmıştır. Öğrencilerin %50.8’i kız, %49.2’si erkektir ve %3.1’inde üriner sistem enfeksiyonu, %3.1’inde enürezis, %2.5’inde astım vardır. Fiziksel değerlendirme sonucunda öğrencilerin %36.1’inde diş çürüğü, % 4.2’isinde (15 öğrenci) görme sorunu (bunlardan 6’sının daha önce tanılanmamış olduğu), and % 1.9’ unun taşikardi ve takipnesinin olduğu belirlenmiştir saptanmıştır. Öğrencilerin %8.9’unun yaşa göre kan basıncı değeri 95. persentil ve üzerinde bulunmuş olup hipertansiyon yönünden ileri değerlendirmeye gereksinim duyduğu, Öğrencilerin %10.6’sının vücut ağırlığı, %3.1’inin boy uzunluğu 97. persentil ve üzerinde, %2.5’inin vücut ağırlığı 3. persentilin altında bulunmuştur. Kız öğrencilerin %14.2’isi, erkek öğrencilerin %20.9’unun beden kitle indeksi 95. persentil ve üzerinde bulunmuştur. Yaşa göre beden kitle indeksi z skorlarına göre öğrencilerin %6.4’ü obez, %7.8’i hafif kilolu/şişman grubundadır.
Öğrecilerde azımsanmayacak boyutlarda fiziksel sağlık sorunları saptanmış olup, diş çürüğü, görme problemi, hipertansiyon, obezite gibi sorunlar erken dönemde tanılanıp, gerekli müdahaleler yapılmadığında daha farklı ve komplike fiziksel, duygusal ve sosyal sorunlara yol açabilir. Bu nedenle, okullarda okul hemşirelerinin bulunması, bu tür sorunların erken dönemde tanılanıp, koruyucu ve tedavi edici girişimlerin erken dönemde gerçekleştirilmesine katkı sağlayabilir.
