| dc.description.abstract | Saudi Arabia and Iran have being at logger heads ever since the Iranian revolution of 1979. The rivalry between both nations has contributed to continuous instability in the Middle East region. Tensions between both nations worsened with the Arab spring of 2011 which swept across the Middle East. The countries hold the most influential and economic systems in the region and aim to establishment dominance and further their interests within the Middle East, this presents an opportunity to expand their powers and also poses a security challenge for both nations, who have not had direct confrontation but have instead fought through a series of proxy wars supporting different sides in civil wars with the latest being the Yemen Civil war as they each bid to become the regional superpower. The Yemen civil war while not a direct result of tensions between both countries has evolved into struggle for regional power and establishment of a regional hegemon between Saudi Arabia and Iran. This research seeks to find out how the involvement of Saudi Arabia and Iran in their quest for regional supremacy have worsened and further complicated pre-exisiting tensions in Yemen's civil war, as they both competing interests clash. Keywords: Arab Spring, Iran, Yemen, Proxy warfare, Saudi Arabia, Houthis. | |
| dc.description.abstract | Suudi Arabistan ve İran, 1979 İran devriminden bu yana kafa kafaya veriyorlar. Her iki ülke arasındaki rekabet, Orta Doğu bölgesinde sürekli istikrarsızlığa katkıda bulundu.
