Efficient and unconditionally stable perfectly matched layer (PML) formulations are presented for truncating the scalar wave-equation finite-difference time-domain (WE-FDTD) grids. The proposed formulations are based on incorporating the alternathig-direction-implicit FDTD (ADI-FDTD) scheme into the scalar wave-equation derived in the PML region at the domain boundaries. A numerical example carried out in the 2D domain is included and it is observed that the lime step of the proposed formations is not bounded but the CFL stability limit of the conventional WE-FDTD algorithm, but by the required accracy level.
