Recently, M. A. Rego-Monteiro and F. D. Nobre have introduced a classical field theory for the non-Hermitian Schrodinger equation with position-dependent mass by using two independent fields. In this letter, we show that there exists a consistent classical field theory for this system without employing a second field which also covers the Hermitian version of the theory.
