Abstract

The concept of freedom then is significant both in communication and law.Freedom is guaranteed by the law of the land and international law andregulations. In all historical accounts, freedom and rights of individualshad been significant reasons why constitutions were made and upheld. Freedom of expression is the right of an individual to do as he/she says,write what he/she thinks is right and thus so freely with other people insocial life, associations, organizations, to name a few. As such, freedom ofexpression is a fundamental and vital freedom and right of everyindividual. The freedom is an associated and it is with a container forbasic rights and freedoms. Therefore, any statement relating to thisfreedom is faced with risks that remain missing. This study tries toattempt under a general point of view the situation of the freedom ofexpression in Turkey both legally and practically. The study will try topresent a comparative way o f the EU standards with the Turkish cases. Infact, revealing of the Turkish application may present limited point of viewfor subsequent studies, because of the freedom of expression is always ahot agenda and the discussions raised day by day on the issue.
