Mentality analysis in literature and mentality analysis of Ahmed Pasha’s Quasıda with Kerem Radiff

Abstract

By analyzing Ahmed Pasha’s Kerem qasida, this study aims to discover signs regarding the Mentality of the time when the qasida was written. These signs require the sample qasida to be examined with respect to Mentality. The aim of this study is to find out the Mentality of the century, through the analysis of the Kerem qasida written with a specific purpose. Although there have been many studies analyzing 19th century Classical Turkish literature in relation to the Mentality, up to now, there have not been many studies which focus on pre-19th century classical Turkish poems in this way. This study is thus significant as it aims fill this gap in literature. The study consists of two chapters. The first chapter focuses on the definition, classification and structure of Mentality, as well as analyzing “The relationship between literature and Mentality”. In the second chapter, a cultural interpretation of Ahmed Pasha’s Kerem quasida is provided by analysing the qasida in light of the discussion above and with a methodology that takes Mentality analysis as its main focus. © 2016, Ahmet Yesevi University.
