Doğu Akdeniz Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi Temel Eğitim Bölümü Okul Öncesi Öğretmenliği Lisans Programına Devam Eden Öğrencilerin Profilleri

Abstract

The aim of the research is to determine the interests, the tendencies toward the profession, the reasons for choosing the profession, the reasons for choosing the University, the factors affecting choices, profiles such as socioeconomic and socio cultural conditions in terms of techniques which are used as activities, to obtain information about the families of students, and to investigate in terms of the teacher qualifications of 21st century among the students who are receiving education at Eastern Mediterranean University, Faculty of Education, Department of Elementary Education, Pre-School Teacher Education Undergraduate Program. The research sample is comprised of 1, 2, 3 and 4th grade undergraduate students who are studying in the Department of Pre-School Teacher Education, sample group comprises of 375 students. The data included in the analysis was obtained from 338 participants. In the research, literature review and questionnaire techniques have been used. The research is a scientific one and purposive sampling was used. SPPS 21 package program was used for the outcomes of the data gathered. As a result of the analysis, profiles of the student of the Eastern Mediterranean University, Faculty of Education, and Department of Elementary Education students have been determined. As a summary of the analysis results 58,9 % of the students choose Pre-School Teacher Education Department based on their own personal interest, 78,7 % of the students choose the department in their first five preferences, 89,9% of the students are satisfied with their choices, 70.1% students preferred education faculties for the love of teaching, 43.5% of them did not receive any scholarship from any institutions and 84.3% of the candidates were not working in any job while continuing their education. While their plans for their career after graduation were examined in terms of all class levels and their participation in educational activities they did not change according to the level of education they attended, when they were examined according to the class levels in which they participated in vital activities, and that there was no meaningful difference between the preparations made during the university preparation period and the educational level of their parents. This study will be a reference for revealing the features that exist in teacher candidates and comparing them with the qualifications expected from teacher candidates for the 21st century.

ÖZ: Araştırmada, Doğu Akdeniz Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi Temel Eğitim Bölümü Okul Öncesi Öğretmenliği Lisans Programında öğrenim görmekte olan öğrencilerin; mesleğe ilişkin ilgileri, mesleğe ilişkin yönelimleri, mesleği tercih etme nedenleri, üniversiteyi tercih etme nedenleri, tercihlerinde etkili olan faktörleri, sosyoekonomik ve sosyokültürel koşulları gibi yaşamsal etkinlikler bakımından profillerinin belirlenmesi, öğrencilerin aileleri ilgili bilgilerin edinilmesi ve 21. yüzyıl öğretmen nitelikleri bakımından incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemini, Okul Öncesi Öğretmenliği Anabilim Dalında okuyan 1. 2. 3. ve 4. sınıf öğrencileri oluşturmaktadır. Örneklem grubu 375 öğrenciden oluşmaktadır. Analize dâhil edilen veri, 338 katılımcıdan sağlanmıştır. Araştırma betimsel bir araştırma olup, amaçlı örnekleme yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Toplanan verilerin sonuçları için SPSS 21 paket programı kullanılmıştır. Analiz sonucunda Doğu Akdeniz Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi Temel Eğitim Bölümü Okul Öncesi Öğretmenliği Bölümü öğrencilerinin kişisel özellikleri ile öğretmenlik mesleğini seçmeye ilişkin bazı özellikleri, korelasyonel olarak analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmanın sonucunda; öğrencilerin %58,9’unun Okul Öncesi Öğretmenliği Bölümü’nü kendi isteği ile tercih ettiği, %78,7’sinin bölümü ilk beş tercihinde belirlemiş olduğu, %89,9’unun tercihinden memnun olduğu, %70,1’nin öğretmenliği sevdiği için eğitim fakültesini tercih ettiği, öğrenimlerine devam ederken %43,5’lik kısmının hiçbir kurum ve kuruluştan burs almadığı ve adaylarının %84,3’nün öğrenimlerine devam ederken herhangi bir işte çalışmadıkları, %15,7’sinin ise çalıştığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Öğrencilerin mezun olduktan sonra kariyerleriyle iv ilgili planları sınıf düzeyleri açısından incelendiğinde aralarında anlamlı farklılık olduğu; eğitsel etkinliklere katılımları eğitim gördükleri sınıf düzeyleri itibariyle değişim göstermediği; yaşamsal etkinliklere katılımları eğitim gördükleri sınıf düzeyleri itibariyle incelendiğinde anlamlı bir fark elde edilemediği ve üniversiteye hazırlık sürecinde yaptığı hazırlık ile anne ve babalarının eğitim düzeyi arasında anlamlı bir fark olmadığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Yapılan bu çalışma, öğretmen adaylarında var olan özellikleri ortaya çıkarmaya ve 21. yüzyıl öğretmen adaylarından beklenen nitelikler ile karşılaştırma açısından referans olması niteliğini taşıyacaktır.
