Abstract

Cellular systems play an important role in the next generation of mobile Heterogeneous Networks (HetNets). These systems lend themselves as essential infrastructures of smart cities and related smart information systems with mobility support. In recent years, performance evaluation of these systems using numerous analytical/numerical approaches has been of interests to many researchers. Although many studies have been conducted to analyze performance characteristics of HetNets such as throughput, mean queue length, and blocking probability, no one considered a realistic energy consumption model that takes into consideration the white noise and available bandwidth in the evaluation using queuing systems. In this paper, we propose a green framework to model and analyze the energy consumption behaviors in the future HetNets using queuing theory while considering significant parameters in practice. Extensive numerical results are presented and simulations are employed to validate our proposed framework.
