Abstract

Job seekers navigate the job market by submitting resumes directly or using online platforms. However, recruitment for individuals with disabilities presents unique challenges, demanding sensitivity to both employer and candidate needs. EchoCareer, a career ontology knowledge base, is proposed to offer tailored job recommendations for hearing-impaired individuals. Utilizing Semantic Web technology, EchoCareer provides machine-understandable information. While currently focusing on hearing impairment, ongoing development aims to address various disabilities, ensuring inclusivity. Quality assessment via the OntoMetric tool ensures compliance with standards, emphasizing consistency, accuracy, and completeness. EchoCareer, a rare ontology in its field, holds promise for integration into job recommendation software, particularly in Human Resources departments of large companies. It serves as a crucial tool for unbiased recruitment, supporting inclusive practices and facilitating efficient and fair hiring processes. © 2021 Aubrey Milunsky and Jeff M. Milunsky.
