Abstract
The accelerated growth of our world's economy and population have led to a substantial increase in power generation. People currently rely on traditional fuel source as a primary source of energy, nevertheless, it is commonly known that traditional fuel has some limitations and environmental impact. As a result, it is important to invest in renewable energy. This study aims to investigate the feasibility of a 100 MW Linear Fresnel (LF) CSP solar power plant in Saudi Arabia specifically in Riyadh because of its geographic location, large population and high irradiation. The System Advisor Model (SAM) of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) was utilized to build, simulate, and assess the system in this study. The system was built using 100 MW of CSP LF technology with molten salt thermal energy storage (TES) in Saudi Arabia. Some equations have been used by SAM for calculations that will be shown in this study. © 2022 IEEE.
