We apply the Born-Oppenheimer approximation to a scattering problem. We consider a diatomic molecule with short-range potential separating into two atoms. Using our earlier mathematical results we construct a leading order expansion to the wave operator for this scattering channel. We comment on limitation and possible extensions of this work.
