| dc.description.abstract | Limited therapeutic efficacy of biomolecular drugs has resulted in the development of various drug delivery systems to protect them from degradation and renal clearance. Protein and peptide-based materials are very promising to develop drug delivery systems. In this chapter, the importance of self-assembly in creation of protein- and peptide-based nanostructures is discussed. Then, various delivery systems based on different peptides and proteins are outlined. It is expected that nanoengineered protein and peptide-based delivery systems play a critical role in the development of the next generation of advanced delivery systems. © 2020 Elsevier Ltd All rights reserved. | |
