Abstract
This thesis seeks to understand the perceptions of residents of North Cyprus as key tourism stakeholders appertaining to the impacts of last international crisis which is pandemic to the island’s tourism activities and presenting a model of recovery and development. As nations and tourism destinations are beginning to relax the non-pharmaceutical measures for the prevention of last international crisis, a major quest in the mind of tourism stakeholders is how to restart and restore the once viable and productive industry to its pristine state. While the urge to restart and restore may necessitate strategic plan and drastic measures, care must be taken not to undermine the sustainability of the destination. In this context, a model was created for the study area by using mixed method (qualitative and quantitative methods together) to understand the perceptions of residents, impacts of last international crisis and presenting a model of recovery and development of North Cyprus. To this end, the study used grounded theory and semi-structured interviews to explore the results by two stages data coding and analysis. First, Coding and theme generation later followed using the recommendations of Braun and Clarke (Braun & Clarke, 2006, 2014) for finding the impacts of crisis in tourism industry. After that, grounded theory, paradigm model which is Regular design of data foundation theory emphasizes the use of data analysis steps through open coding, axial coding and selective coding that presenting the theoretical model by Strauss and Corbin (1990) for presenting the development and recovery model and stakeholder engagement in the sustainable restoration of tourism activities in Island.
