| dc.description.abstract | The most successful technique for turning a nation's development hopes and aspirations into reality is known as human capital accumulation. Scholars and policymakers believe that investing in people's education and health brings enormous advantages to both individuals and society as a whole. Scholars are practically unanimous in their description of the idea, emphasising the need of investing in human capital as a sure way to achieve genuine and sustainable growth. The research analysed the effect of human capital investment on the nation's economic growth from 1983 to 2017. The statistics bulletin of the central bank and the World Bank provided the bulk of the study's data. Analysis was performed using Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) methods. According to the results, there is a positive association between government spending on education, government spending on health, secondary enrollment, birth rate, Gross capital formation and real gross domestic product. The association between, primary enrollment, and real gross domestic product is negative. Hence, it was suggested that Nigerian government should implement a programme and strategy of education and training that would ensure high standards in primary school education. The favorable success of an economy in terms of GDP growth may be correlated with secondary enrolment, the rise in birth rate, gross capital formation and government spending in education and health. Consequently, programmes targeted at their enhancement must be encouraged. Keywords: Gross Fixed Capital Formation, Economic Growth, Human Capital, Health, Education, Primary School Enrolment, Secondary School Enrollment | |
