dc.description.abstractA Multicarrier (MC) system using Quadrature Frequency and Phase Modulation (4FSK and BPSK) named as MC-QFPM is evaluated as an alternative to Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM). System performance is examined through simulations for multipath channels using an exponential power delay profile. MC-QFPM shows increased resistance to delay spread and frequency offset with a power efficiency and with a bandwidth efficiency of 1.5 bit/Hz. MC-QFPM randomly loads only 44 per cent of the subcarriers, thus, reducing inter-channel-interference (ICI). The frequency hopping nature provides intrinsic diversity against deep fades.
