Unconditionally stable formulations of the perfectly matched layer are presented for truncating left-handed material (LHM) computational domains. The formulations are based on incorporating the Z-transform theory into the alternating direction implicit finite difference time domain scheme. The proposed formulations are validated through numerical example carried out in one dimensional LHM domain.
