Abstract

This chapter discusses the design and control of multilevel and modular multilevel-based power quality conditioners. The most popular control and configurations of the power converters, such as the dynamic voltage restorers (DVRs), shunt active power filters (SAPFs), and power quality conditioners, are explained in fourtions. A general discussion about the existing control methods for each configuration is presented in the first section. The second section introduces the series APFs known as the DVRs and their control methods. The third section discusses the SAPFs and their control methods. Finally, the fourth section discusses the modular multilevel topologies and their control methods in power quality applications. © 2026 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
