Abstract

This chapter analyses, in two Parts, the Syrian and Lebanese hydrocarbon geopolitics against the most recent trends and developments. In Part I, we look at Syria where, it appears, the 5-year civil war is slowly and painfully ending (as of January 2020), although how the outcome will be shaped is far from clear, at this time, beyond the fact that it is most likely to be a regional settlement with the consent of Syria’s neighbours. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
