Abstract

Schwarz introduced a method that permits to obtain a solutions for complicated domains by covering the domain with overlapping subdomains by realizing the solution of the Dirichlet problem for harmonic functions on these overlapping subdomains. The present MS Thesis deals with analyzing the construction and justification of Schwarz's method and Schwarz-Neumann method for partial differential and finitedifference equations and how we can prove the convergence of them by using some theorems and assumptions. Keywords: Dirichlet problem, Artificial boundary, Schwarz's method, Schwarz- Neumann method.
