Abstract
In the past decade online learning has increasingly spread throughout all sectors of education including K-12, higher education and vocational education. More recently the change in learner needs, expectations and learning habits has led to the 'blend' of both face-to-face education and the online environment to better support learners. Within the scope of the project '@ Salamis - computer assisted English language education' it is intended to provide learners with alternative learning formats to better suit their needs, specifically, 'student-centred learning' which allows for more in-time, personalised and the right amount of learning for each. This paper reports the elements taken into consideration during the design of the instructional material with the aid of learning technologies such as PowerPoint presentations and how Gagne's nine events guided the design. Along with this, the initial findings of the evaluation results in respects to the views of learners and teachers of the blend of PowerPoint presentations into the face-to-face lessons will be shared.
