Online education and online assessments have become increasingly common in recent years. This study first investigates student satisfaction with online learning at Eastern Mediterranean University and compares their academic performance during online learning to their performance in a traditional, in-person learning environment. A total of 1087 students participated in an online survey and the results suggest that students have a high level of satisfaction with online learning, although their academic performance showed a slight drop compared to in-person learning. In order to further improve the effectiveness of online education, this research proposes a question bank system that uses a modified NSGA-II algorithm to select questions tailored to individual students and instructors' needs. The modified NSGA-II algorithm is efficient and accurate, and meets the specified requirements for difficulty level and duration. By using proposed question bank, educators can provide a more targeted and effective learning experience for their students, including through the use of online assessments. These findings can provide valuable insights for policymakers seeking to improve the quality of online education and support student success. Keywords: Online assessment, Educational technology, Multi-objective optimization, Question bank, E-learning.
